South Africa’s Danisha Patel Clinches First Place in Women’s League at Joburg Open 2025
Alberton, Gauteng — Danisha Patel, a leading figure in South African table tennis and a proud representative of the Lenasia Table Tennis Association (LTTA), triumphed at the Joburg Open 2025, taking 1st place in the Women’s League. The tournament was held from April 26 to 28, hosted by the Johannesburg Table Tennis Association (JTTA).
Patel, both a decorated player and dedicated coach, successfully defended her 2024 title despite the added challenge of mentoring junior players throughout the event. “It was a successful tournament hosted by JTTA, and I’m proud to have balanced coaching while competing,” she said. “My days were long, but the support and energy were worth it.”
The Joburg Open is part of South Africa’s national table tennis ranking system, with each province hosting its own tournament. The 2025 edition drew a diverse field of competitors, including juniors and seasoned champions like Chetan Nathoo, also from LTTA, who placed 2nd in the Men’s League.
LTTA Chairperson Vikash Kasan praised the club’s collective performance, noting, “We’ve received glowing feedback about our players’ skill and sportsmanship. From juniors to veterans, everyone represented LTTA with pride and excellence.”
Vikash gave special mention to Patel and Nathoo: “Danisha’s win and Chetan’s silver finish are testament to their hard work and talent. They’ve set a high bar for the rest of the season.”
As LTTA continues to nurture talent and uphold sporting excellence, Patel’s victory stands as a beacon of what can be achieved through discipline, community support, and perseverance.
